Stag Vs Food And The Godfather Challenge

Stag Vs Food And The Godfather Challenge

Stag Vs Food And The Godfather Challenge

It was only a matter of time really before I’d muster up the courage to take on one of Ireland’s biggest food challenges. The location is Tony’s Bistro in Cork and this food challenge is appropriately named ‘The Godfather Challenge’. So sit back and enjoy Stag Vs Food And The Godfather Challenge!

You’d think after doing a few of these food challenges I’d have learnt how to prepare myself to take down a mountain of food. But no. Everything I seem to try seems to have little effect when you’re taking on a challenge of this magnitude.

Included in the Godfather Challenge is (Takes a deep breath in):

  • 6 Slices of crispy back Bacon
  • 8 Horgan’s Irish Sausages
  • 2 Fried Eggs
  • 2 Fluffy Scrambled Eggs
  • 6oz Sirloin Steak
  • 4 Hash Browns
  • West Cork Black & White Pudding
  • Bowl of Baked Beans
  • Bowl of Sautéed Mushrooms
  • Bucket of Onion Rings
  • Bowl of Grilled Tomatoes
  • Double Portion of Chips
  • 6 Slices of Toast
  • 3 Slices of home-made Soda bread
  • All served with a “bucket” of tea/coffee

I was under the impression before starting that there was no time limit but in fact they actually give you 2 and a half hours to complete. To be honest if you’re still eating solidly after 2 and half hours you deserve a medal. There is so much bread, chips and onion rings that are going fill you up.

I began with the main plate with the intention of putting my best foot forward and eat everything I like. Those mushrooms were always going to be the last on the list. I have to say though that all the food was so tasty. It makes eating that amount of food that bit easier.

I cleared the plate with ease. I was confident I could do that at least. It was then time to lash into the onion rings and chips. There was so many of them. I struggled on chip by chip until they were all gone. At this point I was 42 or so mins in and by stomach felt like it was going to push over the table it was so full.

I pushed on and tried spooning in some baked beans but I couldn’t eat anymore. After 43 minutes and 31 seconds I could continue no more. I was done, beyond full and this Stag Vs Food challenge had gotten the best of me. Even with a bit of a crowd cheering me on I couldn’t finish this monster breakfast.

This challenge is brilliant craic though lads and would be a fantastic activity on a Stag as you look to get in some soakage. Nothing quiet like seeing the stag struggle. It’s also a brilliant spot for a fry up the following morning after a Cork Stag Party.

So do you know anyone that could finish this Stag Vs Food Challenge and be one of very few people to finish the Godfather Challenge.
